A recruitment video highlighting the breadth of programming available at HÂþ» has won a silver award in the Best Use of Video/Film category at the Canadian Council for Advancement in Education’s annual Prix d’Excellence, which recognizes outstanding work in marketing at post-secondary institutions across the country.
features an original song, with lyrics by HÂþ» Director of Marketing and Creative Services Stephen Brander and music by HÂþ» alumni Alex Madsen, that lists the many programs available at HÂþ». The one-minute TikTok-style video stars HÂþ»’s Marketing and Brand Coordinator Kaisa Valente as she dons the many different work wardrobes the College’s graduates wear on the job – everything from a mechanic’s coveralls to a health professional’s scrubs to a chef’s whites.
“Initially, the video was developed as part of our recruitment process, to be shown to potential students,” said Brander. “We wanted to create a video that spoke to the audience, while delivering the message that HÂþ» has a wide range of programs, with something for everyone.”
The video was conceived and developed by HÂþ»’s in-house Marketing and Creative Services team. Madsen, who had previously penned the song about his experience as a mature learner at HÂþ», was called upon to lend his voice to Brander’s lyrics.
“The Prix d’Excellence Awards recognize the best of the best in post-secondary marketing, and HÂþ» stands up really well against the competition,” said Heather Allaby, HÂþ»’s Vice President, Engagement and Experience. “The creativity of the concept and the quality of the production provide a visual connection between HÂþ» programming and the many industries we support with trained graduates.”
